Honors Recitals

Recital #1: Sunday October 20th,  2024 at 3:00 PM Honoring participants of the DSPF

  • Location: Unity Presbyterian Church (1146 Greentree Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15220)
  • Recital attire is highly recommended.
  • Memorization is required.
  • Entry Deadline:  October 16th, 2024

Recital #2: Saturday February 22nd, 2025  at 3:00 PM “Anything Goes”: All genres of repertoire welcomed and memorization NOT required.

  • Location: PYCO School of Music (150 Lake Dr. Wexford, PA 15090)
  • Recital attire is highly recommended.
  • Entry Deadline:  February 15th, 2025

Recital #3: Saturday April 26th, 2025  at 3:00 PM Honoring winners from the Streator Smith Competition

  • Location: PYCO School of Music (150 Lake Dr. Wexford, PA 15090)
  • Recital attire is highly recommended.
  • Memorization is required.
  • Entry Deadline: April 19th, 2025

Registration

For each student submitted, include the following information:

  • Performer’s name
  • Performer’s level:  early beginner, beginner, late beginner, early intermediate, intermediate, late intermediate, early advanced, advanced, late advanced.
  • Title of each composition (including opus number and movement titles), name of each composer.
  • Performance time of each piece.

Rules & Guidelines

  1. All members of GPC are eligible to enter students in this recital.  Well-prepared students of all levels and ages, including beginners (all instruments and voice) are eligible. Ensemble performances are welcome, and teachers may perform with students.
  2. Memorization is required for all performers except for ensemble performers on the October & April recitals.
  3. For arrangements and method book pieces, the arranger must be credited.
  4. More than one piece per student may be performed.  In the case of long programs, students may be asked to play fewer pieces. Repeats of long sections are discouraged.
  5. A maximum of seven students per teacher may participate in one honors recital.
  6. Recitals that include less than 8 total participants will be cancelled.
  7. Submissions must be sent by the teacher via e-mail or postal mail; submissions will not be accepted by telephone.
